Impregnated tulle dressings are open-weave gauze coated in paraffin or a medicated ointment so they stay moist on the wound and lift away without tearing at new tissue. The coating is what separates them.
Plain paraffin tulle suits grazes, skin tears and donor sites that need a non-stick layer, while chlorhexidine-impregnated tulle adds an antiseptic action for wounds at risk of contamination.
