Compression Bandage

Compression Bandage

A venous leg ulcer or persistent lower-limb oedema comes down to sustained, graduated pressure that holds at the right level over days, not minutes. That is what medical compression bandaging does, and the right system depends on the leg, the aetiology, and how much compression the limb can safely take. This range covers the two approaches clinicians reach for: short-stretch inelastic bandages and two-layer cohesive compression systems. If you are after compression stockings, socks, or sleeves instead, those sit in our compression garments collection.

Short-stretch versus cohesive compression systems

Short-stretch bandages like Comprilan (BSN) and Setopress (Mölnlycke) deliver high working pressure on movement and low resting pressure, which suits venous and lymphoedema management where the limb is active. Two-layer cohesive systems like Coban 2 (3M) stay put for up to a week under one application, with Coban Lite designed to support reduced-compression and mixed-aetiology cases where full compression is not appropriate. FAD stocks Mölnlycke, BSN, and 3M side by side, so the choice is made by the leg in front of you, not by the one brand a supplier happens to carry.

Each selection is covered in the injury guidance hub, and related dressings sit in our wound care range. Call the team on 03 5443 2239 for help matching a system to an aetiology.

Always read the instructions for use.
