Mefix 5cm x 10m Box (1) - First Aid Distributions

Mefix Tape

Mefix Tape

Fragile elderly skin needs a fixation tape that holds firm without causing skin tears on removal. Mefix is a common choice across Australian aged care facilities, a Molnlycke non-woven fixation tape used over hips, shoulders, abdominal incisions, and the lower leg.

Standard widths are 2.5cm, 5cm, and 10cm in 10-metre rolls. The 5cm and 10cm widths are the go-to for surgical site cover and post-operative dressings. The 2.5cm works for smaller wounds, IV sites, and hand dressings. Mefix's non-woven backing stretches with the skin and conforms to anatomy where a paper tape would crease.

Mefix sits alongside Hypafix in our fixation tape range so clinical teams can compare the two directly, rather than being locked into whichever fixation tape a supplier happens to carry. On skin-tear-prone patients, the soft, stretchy hand of Mefix is often the default.

Tape selection by dressing type and wound location sits in our wound care and injury guidance resource, alongside the paper, plastic, foam and fabric tape range.
