Splints

Splints

Rigid splints hold a finger, thumb or limb still so an injury can settle without the joint moving under it. The range covers everything from a bent fingertip through to a forearm that needs a firm, shaped support.

The right splint for the injury

The right splint comes down to what you are immobilising. Aluminium foam splints bend to shape and suit fingers and limbs that need a firm hold with some give, while mallet and frog splints are built for specific finger injuries. Thumb splints and supports steady the joint at the base of the thumb, where a lot of sprain and strain injuries land. FAD stocks the AEROSPLINT aluminium foam range (finger, wrist and folded), the Stax Mallet Finger Splints for a mallet finger, and Body Assist finger and thumb splints, so the splint matches the injury rather than forcing one shape onto every job.

Where splinting sits alongside sprain and fracture care is set out in our wound care and injury guidance hub, and the first aid for sprains and fractures guide covers the field side. If the arm needs supporting as well, the arm slings collection covers that.

Always read the instructions for use.
