Transpore Tape
Transpore tape is the clear, perforated plastic tape 3M designed as the all-purpose surgical and medical tape. The perforations let you tear the tape by hand without scissors, and the plastic backing gives stronger hold than paper tape without the conformity of fabric fixation tapes like Hypafix or Mefix.
Standard 3M Transpore widths are 1.25cm, 2.5cm, and 5cm in 9.14-metre rolls. The 2.5cm is the general-purpose pick for securing dressings, tubing, and IV lines. The 1.25cm works for fingers and delicate fixation. The 5cm covers larger dressings where plastic tape is preferred over paper or fabric.
Transpore is a strong fit where water resistance and firmer hold matter: wound care over damp tissue, post-shower dressing re-fixation, and anywhere a paper tape would soften and lift. It's not the right choice for very fragile or skin-tear-prone patients; for those, Micropore or Mefix is the gentler default.
