Foot drop makes lifting the front of the foot hard, so the toes can catch and cause a stumble. The Purecare Leaf Spring AFO Brace is a lightweight ankle foot orthosis designed to help support the foot in a more level position through each step. It's worn inside everyday footwear as part of daily-living mobility support, and it's a support aid rather than a treatment.
The leaf spring is the flexible posterior strut that runs behind the lower leg and under the foot. As the foot lifts through each step the spring flexes, helps support the foot, then returns as weight comes back down. Its low-profile shape keeps the brace light and discreet under socks and shoes.

Who it is for
An AFO brace like this one is commonly used by people living with foot drop from a range of causes, and by NDIS participants who need daily-living and mobility support. It's a support aid worn during standing and walking, not a treatment. If you're unsure whether a leaf spring AFO is right for your situation, speak with your treating health professional first.
Fit and sizing
The brace comes in left and right versions and in four sizes, so choose the side that matches the affected foot and the size that matches your measurements. Fit affects both comfort and how well the brace works, so check the size guide before you order and allow for the extra room it takes up inside the shoe. If you're between sizes or not sure which to choose, call us on 03 5443 2239 and we'll help you get it right.
Wear and care
How long you wear the brace each day is best set with your treating health professional, especially while you're getting used to it. Keep it clean by following the care guidance supplied with the product, and check the fit against your skin regularly for any rubbing or pressure points.
