A Maxi booster pad is an insert that goes inside an incontinence pull-up pant or wrap around to add absorbent capacity to a garment that already fits. It is worn inside a continence garment, never on its own and never inside ordinary underwear. Carers reach for one when the outer garment is right in every other respect but won't last the night, or when four-hourly changes aren't realistic.
How the booster pad works
The booster takes the first of the flow, so the outer garment's own core stays in reserve and keeps working for longer. Once the booster is saturated, the rest passes into that core. It sits flat and central on the front absorbent panel of the Comfort First premium pull-up pants or wrap arounds. The absorbent surface goes towards the wearer, and an adhesive tape backing holds it in position inside the garment.
Changing a booster pad
A booster on its own will not stay in place, and its core is not made for extended direct wear against skin. Swap it out whenever the outer garment is changed. Comfort First says a change is typically needed every four to eight hours; follow the routine in the wearer's continence plan. Comfort First warns against leaving a saturated booster in place while the outer garment stays on, because skin breakdown risk increases.
Continence Health Australia advises cleaning and drying the skin gently at each change, then a barrier cream or moisturiser to protect it. See a doctor straight away if skin becomes red or sore.

Boosters are for topping up capacity now and then, most often overnight, not for lifting what a garment holds every day. If the outer garment falls short every night or through every long day, moving up to a higher-absorbency pull-up or wrap around is the better call than adding a booster to the one you have.
NDIS participants should check booster pad funding with their plan manager, support coordinator or the NDIA. Our NDIS and disability support hub sets out how we work with participants and coordinators.
