Product description

Biatain® Adhesive is a self-adhesive polyurethane foam dressing from Coloplast, made for wounds with low to high exudate. The foam draws fluid in and holds it, while a hydrocolloid adhesive border keeps the dressing in place where extra adhesion is needed, including areas where a secure fit matters.

How it works

The foam pad absorbs exudate and holds it within its structure, which helps keep fluid off the skin around the wound while the wound stays moist. The dressing conforms closely to the wound bed, including under compression. Coloplast states Biatain® Adhesive may be left in place for up to seven days, depending on the wound and the amount of exudate.

Composition

A soft, conformable polyurethane foam dressing with a hydrocolloid adhesive border, supplied by Coloplast.

When it is used

Coloplast indicates Biatain® Adhesive for a range of low to highly exuding wounds. This covers acute wounds such as second-degree burns, donor sites, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds, and chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure ulcers. Coloplast states it is suitable for use alongside compression therapy. Always read the label, follow the directions for use, and seek the advice of a healthcare professional.

Key features

  • Self-adhesive foam with a hydrocolloid border for a secure fit
  • Absorbs and holds exudate while keeping the wound moist
  • Conforms closely to the wound bed, including under compression
  • Wear time of up to seven days as stated by Coloplast, subject to the wound

Sizes and shapes

Biatain® Adhesive comes in three square sizes (7.5 x 7.5cm, 12.5 x 12.5cm and 18 x 18cm) plus two shaped dressings: a Sacral form (23 x 23cm) for the tailbone area and a Heel form (19 x 20cm) that wraps the heel. Match the dressing to the wound site and size, so the foam pad covers the wound with the adhesive border resting on the surrounding skin. If you're unsure which size or shape fits, call our team on 03 5443 2239. For sterility and latex information, check the pack label and Instructions for Use before use.

FAD stocks Biatain® Adhesive alongside competing foam dressings, so the choice is based on the wound rather than one supplier's range. We're Australian owned and family-run since 2011, and dispatch nationally from our East Bendigo warehouse and Sydney fulfilment centre.

Biatain® Adhesive sits in our foam dressings range, part of the wider wound dressing collection. For background on matching a dressing to a wound, read our guide to advanced wound care and dressing technology.
