The Allevyn Classic non adhesive foam dressing from Smith & Nephew is a soft, conformable foam dressing. Smith & Nephew describes it as a trilaminate structure: a non-adherent wound contact layer, a central hydrocellular layer that absorbs exudate (the fluid a wound produces), and an outer film. It is designed to maintain a moist wound environment at the dressing interface. It is non adhesive, so it holds in place under a secondary fixation such as tape or a bandage rather than sticking to the skin itself.

• Carrying an outer film, with the dressing designed to provide a barrier that helps reduce wound contamination

Stocked sizes: 5cm x 5cm, 10cm x 10cm, 15cm x 15cm, 10cm x 20cm, 20cm x 20cm. Match the pad to the wound area with a small margin of healthy skin around it, so the dressing covers the wound and a little beyond. If you are between two sizes, the larger one gives you that margin.
