Zoll AED Plus Defibrillator (1)

The Zoll AED Plus is an automated external defibrillator for use in homes, workplaces and public spaces. Its intended purpose is to help victims of sudden cardiac arrest. It comes in a semi-automatic model, which prompts the responder to press the shock button when a shockable rhythm is detected, and a fully automatic model, which delivers the shock on its own. Both models pair spoken and on-screen prompts with Zoll's Real CPR Help so a responder is guided through each step.

Real CPR Help gives feedback on chest compressions as they happen. A metronome paces compressions at 100 per minute, within the ANZCOR recommended range of 100 to 120 per minute, and visual prompts encourage a compression depth of at least 5 cm (2 inches) for adults. The AED Plus guides any responder, trained or not, through each step; the prompts support a responder rather than replace a first aid or CPR course.

The unit carries an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance and runs on off-the-shelf Duracell 123A lithium batteries with a five-year battery life. The one-piece CPR-D-padz electrodes have a five-year shelf life, and the AED runs automatic self-tests so you can see it is ready between uses. For paediatric use, ANZCOR advises paediatric pads and a paediatric-capable AED for a child under 8 years; ZOLL specifies its Infant/Child electrodes for a child under 25 kg (55 lbs) and the standard CPR-D-padz above that weight.
