Smith & Nephew Solosite Wound Gel is a wound gel for minor wounds at home. The manufacturer indicates it for minor burns, including sunburn, superficial cuts and lacerations, skin tears and abrasions. The 50g tube is supplied singly, so it suits a home first aid kit or a bathroom shelf rather than a clinical store.

Smith & Nephew describes Solosite as keeping a moist environment over a minor wound while it settles. Smith & Nephew's direction is to apply a layer roughly 5mm thick over the area, keeping the tube tip clear of the wound. It is for external use only.

How to use

Smith & Nephew's directions are to cleanse the wound with saline or a suitable cleansing solution, then apply the gel. To stop the wound drying out, reapply regularly for minor burns including sunburn, and daily for other minor wounds. The gel can be removed by rinsing with clean drinkable water or saline. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

Storage

Close the lid and store in a dry place below 25°C. Use within three months of opening and before the expiry date.
