Philips HeartStart FR3 Defibrillator with ECG & Case (1)

The Philips HeartStart FR3 with ECG is a semi-automatic external defibrillator for trained responders, supplied with its carry case. Philips intends the FR3 for use on suspected sudden cardiac arrest, where a person is unresponsive and not breathing normally. The unit powers on as soon as the case is opened, so the responder can move straight to pad placement. The FR3 guides each step with voice prompts and an on-screen display.

The carry case lets the SMART Pads III stay pre-connected to the unit and out of their foil packaging, which removes a step in an emergency. The unit is supplied in a red carry case. The FR3 is compact at 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) with the standard battery installed, sealed to IP55, and runs in operating conditions from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. It runs regular automated self-tests so a responder can see at a glance that it is ready.

The FR3 ECG model adds an optional 3-Lead ECG Cable that displays a non-diagnostic view of the heart rhythm of a patient who is responsive and breathing normally but at risk of cardiac distress. While the 3-Lead Cable is connected the shock capability is disabled, and the unit alerts the responder to check the patient if the heart rate falls below 30 BPM. This is a monitoring feature for trained users, not a diagnostic tool.

Philips intends the FR3 for adults and children over 25 kg or 8 years old, and for children under that threshold when the optional FR3 Infant/Child Key is installed. With the key fitted, the FR3 delivers paediatric defibrillation energy. The patient adhesives and the product do not contain natural rubber latex.
