Modulator Extreme With 500P Heartsine Defibrillator

The Modulator Extreme is a workplace first aid and trauma kit from Aero Healthcare supplied here with a HeartSine Samaritan 500P defibrillator, so bleed control and on-site defibrillation arrive in one hard case. It is built for remote and high-risk worksites where help can be a long way off, such as mining, construction, forestry and farming. The kit

The case measures 43 x 38 x 15.4 cm and weighs 5 kg. It is an IP67-rated hard case, water and dust resistant and crush resistant, so it stands up to outdoor and worksite conditions. The contents are organised into seven modules: Cuts and Grazes, Trauma, Eye, Burns, Snake Bite, Dressings and Bandages, and an Additional Items module. Each module is marked so a responder can reach the right supplies quickly under pressure.

A dedicated cavity is included for an automated external defibrillator, so an AED such as the HeartSine devices supplied here can be housed alongside the bleed control and CPR supplies rather than stored separately.

HeartSine Samaritan 500P defibrillator

The HeartSine Samaritan 500P is a semi-automatic external defibrillator. It analyses the patient's heart rhythm through a pair of adhesive electrodes that also monitor the ECG, and it indicates to the operator when a shock should be delivered. The 500P also gives real-time CPR feedback to the rescuer during chest compressions.

It uses an adult shock protocol of 150 J, 150 J then 200 J, and a paediatric protocol of 50 J, 50 J, 50 J, with a maximum energy of 200 J. Charge time is under 8 seconds at 150 J and under 12 seconds at 200 J. The device carries an IP56 ingress protection rating, is built to withstand a 1 m drop, and weighs 1.1 kg with the Pad-Pak fitted. It is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and the Pad-Pak (battery and electrodes combined) has a 4-year shelf life from the manufacture date.
