Mextra Superabsorbent is a superabsorbent dressing with a fluid-repellent backing, made by Molnlycke. It is designed for highly exuding wounds, the kind that overwhelm a standard dressing and weep more than a basic pad can hold. The superabsorbent core is built to take up and hold a large volume of exudate, while the fluid-repellent backing is designed to help keep that fluid away from clothing and bedding.

The core is designed to hold exudate within the dressing rather than letting it sit against the skin. That suits managing a heavily weeping wound at home, in aged care, or in community nursing settings. Mextra Superabsorbent is for use under the direction of a treating health professional, who will confirm it is the right dressing for the wound.
