Mepilex Border Sacrum Dressing (1)

Mepilex Border Sacrum is a self-adherent soft silicone multi-layer foam dressing shaped for the sacrum. Molnlycke describes it as designed for a wide range of exuding wounds such as sacral pressure injuries, and it can also be used on dry or necrotic wounds in combination with a gel. It absorbs moderate to high amounts of exudate, which suits the heavier output common at the sacral site.

The dressing uses Molnlycke's Safetac silicone wound contact layer. According to Molnlycke, Safetac seals the wound edges to prevent exudate leaking onto the surrounding skin, which minimises the risk of maceration, and the silicone layer is designed for less pain and trauma on removal. The sacral shape is held in place by the self-adherent border. Molnlycke also states that Mepilex Border Sacrum has been demonstrated to help prevent pressure injuries, redistribute shear and friction on the tissues, and help maintain a stable skin microclimate during wear time.

It is supplied sterile in single packs. First Aid Distributions stocks it in two sacral sizes, each available as a single dressing or a box of five.
