Mepilex Border Heel Dressing

The Molnlycke Mepilex® Border Heel is a self-adherent soft silicone foam dressing shaped to fit the heel. It is built for the awkward contour of the heel, where flat dressings lift and slide, and it works in two ways: protecting at-risk skin and managing exuding heel wounds.

Molnlycke designed the Border Heel for the prevention of skin damage and for the treatment of exuding wounds including pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, heel ulcers, traumatic wounds and other secondary healing wounds. Used for prevention, the Safetac® contact layer protects the skin by holding the dressing in position and limiting friction and shear at the skin-dressing interface. Used for treatment, it absorbs and retains exudate and maintains a moist wound environment, while the Safetac layer seals the wound edges to limit exudate leakage onto surrounding skin and reduce the risk of maceration.

It uses a five-layer design with a Safetac soft silicone contact layer. It is self-adherent, so no secondary fixation is needed, and it is shaped to fit the heel with no need to cut or adapt it. It can remain in place for several days, depending on the wound and clinical judgement.

FAD stocks the Border Heel as a single dressing (product code 282750-01) or a box of 6 (282750-05). Choose the single when you are trialling a dressing or treating one wound, and the box when you are managing an ongoing wound or stocking a clinical setting.
