Mepiform Silicone Scar Dressing

Molnlycke Mepiform is a self-adherent silicone dressing for managing scars and helping prevent new ones. Molnlycke describes it as a soft silicone dressing for the reduction and prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scarring, used on closed wounds once the skin has healed. It is thin and flexible, so it sits discreetly under clothing and stays put through the day.

The dressing combines a breathable, shower-proof laminate with a soft silicone Safetac contact layer. The Safetac layer holds the dressing gently against the skin and lifts away with less pulling at change time, which matters on sensitive scar tissue. The same dressing can stay in place across several days before it needs changing.

For prophylactic use, Molnlycke advises wearing Mepiform for two to six months depending on the condition of the scar. It comes in three sizes to suit different scar lengths and areas: 4cm x 30cm, 5cm x 7.5cm and 10cm x 18cm.
