Melolite is a low-adherent absorbent dressing from Smith & Nephew, designed for light to moderately exuding wounds where you want a pad that lifts away cleanly. Smith & Nephew describe it as a double-sided needle-punched pad with a permeable wound contact layer that lets exudate pass into the pad. That contact layer is low-adherent, which Smith & Nephew note helps minimise trauma to the wound and the patient on removal. The manufacturer indicates it for use over clean sutured wounds, abrasions and lacerations.

What it is

A double-sided absorbent pad for everyday wound cover. The permeable contact layer lets wound fluid pass into the pad, while the low-adherent surface helps keep the dressing from bonding to the wound on removal. Smith & Nephew note the pad can be cut to shape and holds together when cut. Each pack holds one dressing. Choose the size that gives a margin of pad around the wound edges.

Choosing a size

Pick a dressing that covers the wound with a small margin of pad on every side. The 7.5cm x 5cm suits smaller cuts and grazes, while the 7.5cm x 10cm and 7.5cm x 20cm handle larger or longer wounds.
