Iodosorb Cadexomer Iodine Ointment (1)

Iodosorb is a cadexomer iodine ointment from Smith & Nephew for the topical treatment of chronic exuding wounds that need their surface cleaned and managed. The ointment can be applied directly to the wound bed, or spread onto a cover dressing or plain gauze, where the cadexomer beads absorb exudate, debris and bacteria. As the beads take up fluid they swell and form a soft gel, releasing iodine into the wound over time.

It suits wounds with small to moderate exudate, including chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers and pressure injuries, where slough is slowing progress. The colour changes from brown to yellow or grey as the iodine is used up, which signals when it is time to change the dressing. Iodosorb comes in two tube sizes, and each pack contains a single tube.
