Intrasite Gel 25gm

Smith & Nephew Intrasite Gel is an amorphous hydrogel in a 25g Applipak tube, made to hold a moist environment over a wound through the later stages of healing. It re-hydrates necrotic tissue to support autolytic debridement, and it loosens and absorbs slough and exudate. It is non-adherent and is formulated not to harm viable tissue or the skin around the wound, which makes it suitable at the debridement stage and through the later stages of wound closure.

The partially hydrated formulation donates moisture to drier wounds and absorbs from wetter ones, holding a moist surface either way. According to Smith & Nephew, the gel rehydrates necrotic tissue and, by its gentle action, aids debridement, while absorbing slough and exudate without damaging fragile granulation tissue.

By keeping the wound surface moist, Intrasite Gel helps prevent eschar formation and supports the migration of epithelialising cells. It is removed by irrigation with normal saline, lifting away cleanly without disturbing fragile tissue. The formulation contains propylene glycol, which acts as a humectant to keep the gel from drying out and to improve handling.
