Hypafix Tape

Hypafix Tape

Hypafix is the non-woven fixation tape nurses and wound care clinicians reach for when a dressing needs to stay put on awkward anatomy without pulling skin on removal. Made by Leukoplast (part of Essity), it's a soft, stretchy, breathable tape that conforms to joints, shoulders, hips, and the trunk where rigid tape would lift or crease.

The standard range runs 2.5cm × 10m, 5cm × 10m, and 10cm × 10m. The 5cm and 10cm widths are the workhorses for post-surgical dressings, hip and shoulder incisions, and large wound cover. The 2.5cm is the pick for finger and hand dressings, IV line fixation, and anywhere the surface curves tightly.

The question we get asked often is Hypafix vs Fixomull. Both are non-woven fixation tapes with similar adhesion, and both have a legitimate place in a wound care trolley. Hypafix tends to be the default for post-surgical cover and large-area fixation; Fixomull is often chosen where a slightly more flexible, thinner feel is preferred. FAD stocks both, so the choice is based on the wound, the anatomy, and the clinician's preference, not which tape the supplier happens to carry.

Tape-to-dressing matching sits in the wound care hub. Our full tape range covers paper, plastic, foam, zinc oxide, and fixation tapes side by side for facilities ordering across the range.

If you're not sure which Hypafix size suits a specific dressing, call the FAD team on 03 5443 2239. We stock the commercial box quantities as well as single rolls.

Always read the instructions for use.
