The Remote Area Small is built for the gap between everyday cuts and a full trauma response, for when help is an hour or more away. It carries a snake bite bandage with a compression indicator, a CPR mask in a hard case, burn dressings, and a wide spread of wound dressings in a hard green case sized 36cm x 18cm x 12cm.

The hard case has two counter-lever trays and snap locks, so the contents stay sorted and secure on rough tracks. The spread covers more ground than a basic kit: wound dressings in sizes 13, 14, and 15, a low-adherent burn dressing and burn gel, a combine dressing, non-adherent dressings, conforming and crepe bandages, an eye module, saline, a torch, and a whistle. The snake bite bandage with a built-in compression indicator is the standout for remote Australian travel.

This kit suits work vehicles, hiking, excursions, and remote-area work where you carry your own response. It is the small size in the remote range; longer trips with more people often warrant a larger kit, and the contents and refills are all available through the one FAD account.

We design and assemble the kit in-house in Bendigo to meet Australian first aid kit requirements, and it ships from our East Bendigo warehouse and Sydney fulfilment centre. If you want a hand matching the kit to how far out you go, the team on 03 5443 2239 has packed and sold the range.

Usage

Stow the case where it won't shift and where everyone travelling knows it is. Familiarise the group with the snake bite bandage and the CPR mask before they're needed, because both are time-critical and harder to work out under pressure. Check the contents every six months and replace anything used or expired, and confirm the torch battery still holds.

Care and storage

Keep the case out of direct heat; a parked vehicle in summer is the main risk to gel and dressings. Replace the snake bite bandage, burn items, and any expired stock at the six-monthly check so the kit stays ready.

Common questions

Does it include a snake bite bandage? Yes, a snake bite bandage with a built-in compression indicator, which is the standard pressure bandage for venomous bites in remote Australia.

Is this enough for a long remote trip? It's the small size in the remote range. Longer trips with more people often need a larger kit; ask the team to match a kit to your trip.

How do I restock it? Order the individual contents and refills through FAD in the one account, so remote-specific items come from the same place.
