Burn Gel Dressing - Aero (1)

The Aero Burn Gel Dressing is a sterile, gel-impregnated foam pad for the first aid management of minor burns, scalds and sunburn. It comes as a single dressing in two sizes, a 10cm x 10cm pad for smaller burns and a 20cm x 20cm pad for a larger area. The gel cools the skin on contact and eases the sting while the pad covers the burn.

The dressing is non-adherent, so it sits over a burn without sticking to the surface, which makes it more comfortable to apply and to remove. The hydrogel keeps the area moist and the pad is supplied sterile in a sealed sachet to reduce contamination risk. It is one part of your burns response: cool the burn under cool running water first, then cover.

When to reach for it

Reach for a burn gel dressing for minor heat burns, scalds from hot liquids and bad sunburn, once the burn has been cooled under cool running water for 20 minutes. For a serious or large burn, a burn to the face, hands or genitals, or any burn on a baby or young child, treat it as an emergency and seek medical help. A gel dressing manages the minor end of the range and buys comfort while you decide whether more care is needed.
