It has neither a needle nor medicine loaded into it, which means that it should never be carried for treatment purposes in place of the standard EpiPen. Based on the same auto-injector mechanism, the EpiPen Trainer emulates the proper usage of a medicated EpiPen in case of an allergic emergency.
