PolyMem Non-Adhesive Dressing is a pink 10cm x 10cm pad from Ferris that combines a wound cleanser, a moisturiser and a superabsorbent in a polyurethane matrix, with a semi-permeable film backing. Its cleansing system is activated by moisture and continuously cleanses the wound bed, which minimises the need for additional cleansing during dressing changes.

What the dressing does

Ferris describes PolyMem dressings as moistening, filling and absorbing. The moisturiser promotes a moist healing environment and helps prevent the dressing adhering to the wound, and the superabsorbent takes up wound fluid. Ferris makes PolyMem configurations for wounds from dry to heavy exudate, and lists wound types including pressure ulcers, diabetic and venous ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, surgical wounds and skin tears.

How it's used

This is the non-adhesive version, with no adhesive border. Ferris positions it for cutting to size, with tape or tapeless application, and as a combined primary and secondary dressing or as a secondary dressing. For application and how often to change it, follow the instructions for use supplied with the dressing or the directions of your nurse or doctor.
