A major bleed can empty a person in minutes, so the first job is to stop it before help arrives. This compact bleed kit is built for exactly that, with a tactical combat tourniquet, a QuikClot haemostatic dressing and a trauma haemorrhage dressing in a clear case small enough to keep in a vehicle, an office or a sports bag.

The kit pairs a tactical combat tourniquet for a life-threatening limb bleed with a QuikClot EMS haemostatic dressing (10cm x 10cm) that helps clotting on a wound a tourniquet cannot reach, plus a trauma haemorrhage wound dressing for direct pressure. Nitrile gloves, universal shears and an emergency thermal blanket round out the response so one small case covers a serious bleed end to end.

The clear plastic case measures 21cm x 15cm x 7.5cm, hard-wearing and light, so it fits in a glovebox, a first aid station or a kit bag and the contents stay visible for a fast check. It suits workplaces, sports teams and personal vehicles where a serious bleed is a real, if rare, risk.

We design and assemble this kit in-house in Bendigo, and FAD carries the tourniquets, haemostatic dressings and refill stock to restock it after use, so replacing single-use trauma items is one order through the same account. Family-owned since 2011, with phone advice on 03 5443 2239, FAD can help you decide how much bleed control a site needs, which a generic marketplace listing cannot do.

Usage

For a limb bleed that will not stop with pressure, apply the tourniquet high and tight above the wound. For a wound a tourniquet cannot reach, pack the QuikClot dressing into the wound and hold firm pressure. Familiarise everyone on site with the tourniquet before it is needed, because it is time-critical and harder to work out under pressure, and check the kit every six months.

Care and storage

Store out of direct heat and sunlight and keep the case where it can be reached fast. Replace the tourniquet, haemostatic dressing and any expired items as part of the six-monthly check.

Common questions

Is this a full first aid kit? No. It is a focused bleed control kit. Pair it with a general first aid kit for everyday injuries.

What is the QuikClot dressing for? It is a haemostatic dressing that helps blood clot on a serious wound where a tourniquet cannot be applied.

How do I restock it after use? Order the tourniquet, haemostatic dressing and other single-use items through FAD in the one account.
