Algisite M Calcium Alginate Dressing (1)

The calcium alginate fibres in Algisite M turn to a soft gel as they absorb wound fluid, which holds a moist environment over the wound and lifts away cleanly at a dressing change. Smith & Nephew describes it as a low-adherent alginate dressing for moderate to heavily exuding wounds. The gel conforms to the shape of the wound, so it suits cavities and irregular wound beds as well as flat wounds.

It is flexible and can be cut to size, and can stay in place for up to several days depending on the wound and the exudate level. The dressing is intended for wounds such as skin tears, abrasions, lacerations, minor burns, leg and pressure ulcers and surgical wounds. It is not intended for lightly exuding or dry wounds, and should not be used on people with a known alginate sensitivity.

Stocked in four sizes, including a 2cm x 30cm rope for packing narrow or cavity wounds.
